We rescued Sam 11 years ago when he was 7 months old. He came to sleep in front of the house where we lived. After a few days, someone put a box there for him to sleep in, but we couldn't just watch him there without doing anything, knowing the dangers of the street and worrying that someone might hurt him at any moment during the night. Even though we lived in a small place, the grandpa of the pack brought him inside one night so he'd have a place to stay. He was malnourished and in pain when he walked. After several tests, he was diagnosed with Brucella, a disease that can be contagious to humans and animals. Although the prognosis wasn't good, we gave him all the recommended treatments, and he recovered. Sam recovered and survived thanks to care, conventional and homeopathic medications, and also acupuncture, aquatic therapy, electrotherapy, massage, and a great deal of patience and love. As a consequence of the disease, it attacks his bones and joints, solidifying the vertebrae of his spine and fusing them together, causing a great deal of pain and limited mobility throughout his body. On occasion, we have had to lift him to help him walk, something that, due to his enormous size, has required a great deal of patience and physical and emotional strength. Throughout these years, Sam has had pain crises that prevent him from moving, and his latest diagnosis was spondylitis and arthritis, affecting his lumbar spine, sacral joints, hips, neck and knees. Therefore, he can't run much, bite balls or sticks, jump, or play roughly, even though he loves all of that, if he does it too much, it causes him severe pain crises that make him cry and prevent him from getting up, sometimes requiring him to use a wheelchair to walk. Sam's life expectancy was, at most, two years, but today he's 12 years old and he's our miracle dog who loves to share with everyone and escape to eat dirt in the garden. In recent months, Sam has had several episodes of kidney infection, so he's taking antibiotics and has a long list of medications to keep him pain-free, protect his kidneys, and eat special renal food. Become Sam's Magical Sponsor and support him with his medications so he can continue his treatment pain-free, maintain his special renal food, and receive monthly deworming and flea treatment. Your monthly contribution is very important to continue his treatment and help him stay alive. Together We Can Save Lives :)
