Eureka was rescued eight years ago when she was running wild near an avenue in Bogotá. She was about a year old and had enormous teats, as if she had recently given birth. Although we searched nearby to see if we could find her puppies, we couldn't. After an hour of not knowing what to do, we decided to take her home because she wouldn't leave our side for a single moment. She was malnourished, had skin problems, and anemia. After months of treatment, she recovered, but a year after her rescue, she was diagnosed with Sticker's venereal tumor, a transmissible cancer among dogs. Thanks to early detection and a long course of chemotherapy, Eureka was cured. During these years, she was adopted by two families, who then returned her to us because they "didn't have time to care for her." So, several years ago, we decided she would be part of our pack, as she chose us from the very beginning. Although she has a lot of energy and is a giant, she is the sweetest love with both humans and dogs. A year ago, lumps started appearing on her body, and after tests, she was diagnosed with mast cell tumors, which are skin cancers. After several tests and boosting her immune system, we had to remove the tumors and give her chemotherapy again. Eureka is a little miracle; she recovered from cancer for the second time after treatment, but she needs medication and skin protectants, special food for her skin, and continued immune support to prevent the cancer from returning.
