Tabata is 8 years old. We rescued her 7 years ago when she was 6 months old in Anapoima, a town near Bogotá. She was pregnant, and a few days after rescue her, she gave birth to her kittens, who were healthy and found their forever homes when they were two months old. But she wasn't so lucky. After years of waiting for a home, no one applied to adopt her, so we decided to stop looking and make her part of the pack permanently, since she chose us as her family from the very beginning. Tabata has been very timid since her rescue; she doesn't socialize with dogs and prefers to keep to herself without much contact. However, she has been accompanied by her sister, who was rescued one year before and has taught her how to socialize. Tabata has been in very good health all these years, but in the last year, she has developed urinary crystal problems. Although she has been stable after treatment, she still needs medication and a special struvite urinary diet. Last month, Tabata had a relapse and we had to rush her to the emergency vet. After stabilizing her and running tests, the result was hemoparasites, an illness that has caused her several problems due to a weakened immune system, such as respiratory congestion with coughing and vomiting for several weeks. Tabata has a long list of medications, and we still owe the vet for some tests and the emergency visit from last month, which we haven't been able to cover.
